Can you pay for a court order?

We need your help to bring transparency to website blocking.

We want to improve transparency around website blocking by court order. But to do that we need to get to the court orders that oblige ISPs to block specific websites. The problem is that courts don't routinely release court orders and it costs £10 to apply for each one.

Can you donate £10 so we can publish and analyse court orders?

Each court order costs £10, payable to the court service. Each blocking case includes around six court orders; one directed at each of the major ISPs. Your help will enable us to pay for, publish and analyse these court orders, which will increase transparency and serve as the basis for the campaign for the Error 451 error code.

The Error 451 error code will be shown when people visit websites blocked for legal reasons. A good Error 451 message would tell users how to challenge a block, how long the block's expected to last, where the relevant legal documents are and which legal authority imposed the blocking order.

We're looking to raise at least £1000 to pay for the court orders we know we already need to publish and get to work on, and for more court orders in the future.
